Hallelujah! No one has ever been as ready for summer as I am.
Two words... sleeping in.
How sweet those two little words are. There is nothing as grand as going to bed the night before knowing I have nothing specific to wake up for the next day. I don't even set the alarm! Just wake up whenever! HEAVEN.
Do I feel guilty about Dan having to wake up so early for work? A little. Will I let it get me down... yeah, not really. Sorry babe, I've earned it. You've earned it too (probably more than me), but I'm willing to be the one to step up and take one for the team. :)
So while I'm sleeping the morning away, what are my kids doing? Nothing. Absolutely nothing... just like summer was made for. Watching a little TV. Playing some video games. Being lazy. The exact opposite of the school year. I'm happy for them. They deserve it too.
The first day of summer break, I awoke to find the boys watching TV in bed. It made my day. Relax... enjoy it all ,boys, for summer will only be here for such a short time. Now I'm certainly not encouraging them to waste the summer away watching TV, but I am encouraging them to relax and have fun and be 6 and 11 for one more summer.
So what about the girl's morning ritual? Well, I suppose she's my alarm clock this summer. She's great though. She will play forever in her crib with her books or toys she asked us to leave her the night before. One of my favorite times of day is going in to get Scarlet in the morning. I am usually always greeted with, "OH, hi Mommy." Then, "I want a tippy cup and a B." Hey, a girl has got to have her priorities straight! This is what I found Miss Scarlet looking like the morning of the first day of summer vacation. Cute girl.
So that's my spiel on enjoying summer. We're going to relax, have fun, breath it all in and above all... be together.
