I was just doing this layout and it made me happy thinking about our picnic in the park in September.
I wanted to celebrate the incoming Fall season (any reason to celebrate is my motto), so I decided to make up an apple menu and load it all up in our car and take my parents and the kids to the local park and eat our YUMMY dinner under a gorgeous oak tree. Very Fallish huh?
The meal was SO divine that I went and looked up my menu and decided to post it. My kids and my Dad are PICKY eaters and they devoured this meal!
The main course recipe comes from my VERY favorite recipe books EVER... Gooseberry Patch Cookbooks! These aren't for you "fancy folks". They are definately downhome, delicious and pretty easy recipes. I swear by them and am rarely disappointed! I also love that they suggest fun family activities in their pages and kitchen and home tips. LOVE THESE BOOKS!
Okay, so the main recipe is SAUSAGES & APPLES:
1 pound package of sausage links (I used apple-chicken sausages)
5 apples, cored, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1/2 t. nutmeg
1/2 cup water
Brown sausages in a 12" skillet; reduce heat and cover. Mix remaining ingredients together and add to skillet. Cover and simmer until apples and sausages are tender, about 30 minutes. Makes 4 servings.

My salads are always different (basically what I have in my pantry and fridge), but I usually always try to include:
lettuce
sliced eggs
Shredded cheddar cheese
crumbled bacon
Briannas Blush Wine Vinaigrette
any veggies you want to add
is THE most delicious salad ever and So easy!

We then just had a couple of French loaves with butter... yum
The meal was topped off with my mom's delicious apple tart which has no recipe... she just knows the combo and goes for it.
Oh, and to drink... IBC rootbeer, of course... our fav!
