**Before I tell you the story behind the tickets, notice Scarlet's striped tights... I LOVED them... very witchy indeed!!!
Since Dan and I have seen Wicked about 5 times and I play the music all the time around the house and in the car, my kids became ADDICTED to it. They soon learned all the words to the songs and we'd have sing-a-longs in the car every time I played the CD.
Then they started bugging us to take them to see it. Dan and I couldn't believe that these sports crazed boys would want to actually see it, so we kept putting them off until Patrick actually asked for tickets for his main Christmas gift! Then we knew they were serious!
We, of course, bought the boys tickets to see it and we took them last year and they were enthralled by it. We thought it would end them wanting to see it, but it only made them worse! Now they were asking us to see it again! This was turning into an expensive addiction! lol
We opted not to take Scarlet because, well-- when she was 5 she was completely unpredictable and could have ruined the show for EVERYONE in the theater. She was also very into going to the bathroom every 10 minutes during movies, so we dreaded the thought of a 3 hour production with her!!!
Well, not taking Scarlet didn't go as well as we had hoped. She was furious! So here we found ourselves promising to take her soon.
Okay, so cut to this last Christmas... we know that Wicked is leaving the Pantages and we are so bummed. On Christmas morning we opened up a gift labeled to THE FAMILY from Dad and inside it were 5 tickets to see Wicked. Well, bedlam soon after ensued! It was a crazy mad house of celebration! The best part about it was that my Mom, my Aunt and my cousin (from Ireland) were coming with us!
Right before school got in we all went and it was magic. It was the original LA cast and they were magnificent. Scarlet was enraptured! She sat on the edge of her seat the WHOLE night with the biggest eyes. She quietly mouthed the words to her favorite song and had a smile that Dan and I will never forget. It was heaven...
We had such a fun Earth Day! You know me... I LOVE a reason to celebrate!!!
First of all, our school had all the kids wear different colored shirts according to their grade. Scarlet's grade wore yellow and Chandler's grade wore red. It was so beautiful seeing the kids in all their bright colors on campus!
We then hit out neighborhood DO IT CENTER and bought some cute flowers and a fab hanging basket. Oh how I love a hanging basket!
We then met Dan at home and prepared our orange tree planter and planted some flowers.
Okay, so the kids loved this movie, but I have to warn you... it is sad. Heartbreaking actually. It was hard for me, but I'm really glad we saw it. It's nature. For some reason I guess I just never thought about baby animals dying in the wild. Who would? It's a horrible thought. Anyway, just a little caution...
To finish off the day, I made some yummy cinnamon rolls for the next day's breakfast.
Note to my readers- Patrick actually participated in all of today's activities, but he was being a fool in every shot, so I didn't include him! Come to think of it, I should have...
