We LOVE St. Patrick's Day!!!
I mean REALLY LOVE St. Patrick's Day!!!
LOVE it so much I named my first born after it! Okay, well not exactly... he was named after my mom, Pat, BUT-- and here's where it gets C R A Z Y--- my mom's name is Patricia, she's born and raised in Northern Ireland AND born on St. Patrick's Day!
So, yes, we are kind of invested in this holiday! ;)
Another thing... for those of you that don't know me that well... I was also born in Northern Ireland and lived there until I was almost 6. No, I don't have the accent. I got rid of that pretty quickly when I realized that I was the only one who sounded like the Irish Spring guy in my class! My parents still have the accent-- I'm told my dad sounds like he fell off of the potato truck only yesterday.
Another thing... I'm still British. Haven't quite had the time to fix that little matter yet. (even though I had a *slight* run in with immigration returning from Mexico GULP-- I'm leaving my options open for a free trip/deportation to Belfast in case things ever get too much around here! Hear that Dan!?!? Just say'n... a girl needs options!)
OKAY-- SO BACK TO THE PICNIC!!!!
When the kids got home from school they discovered that the leprechauns had left them a very yummy snack picnic... complete with cupcakes, chips and guac, green cheese danishes, celery and green cream cheese, and green decorated Sprite bottles. They also had hidden gold coins, chocolate shamrocks, and chocolate leprechauns throughout the yard for a fun hunt.
And what would a holiday be like without little gifties. Those leprechauns are sooooo generous you know!
Wednesday Jones got a shamrock rattle. (who would have known such a thing existed!?!? Good ol Target)
Keiran got a Little People Leprechaun Train set (my FAV gift by far!!!)
Scarlet got a leprechaun piggy bank and green headbands.
Chandler got a green watch and a leprechaun nutcracker (he collects them- SO nerdy! ♥ it).
Patrick got his favorite kind of green-- cash! Oh and shamrock socks.
and
the guest of honor-- my mom-- got a NOOK from us for being the best grammy ever and turning 65!
It was a great day.
HOw fun, Gillian! That is a lot of green. I'm not Irish, but it's my FAVORITE color. YOur mom is pretty swell!

Well we are a very Irish family too but you have me beat Gillian. Lots of red hair and Great Grandparents born in the South, part of the potato immigration. Here's a funny thought my daughter jennifer collects nutcrackers too...she's mid 30's so she has lots!!!
