We saw it. Dan loved it! I thought it was good, but I have to admit that sci-fi is my least favorite kind of movie, so I'm not the best judge. What I CAN'T wait to see is Angels & Demons... great book!
Well, yesterday my girl and I had our big Hollywood date at the El Capitan to see the fabulous BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA!
It was muy fantastico!
First we ate at DISNEY'S SODA FOUNTAIN where Scarlet had a yummy Princess Sundae and I had a divine grilled cheese sandwich.
Scarlet then got to pick out a toy from the Disney store and she picked Poppy from the movie. Adorable...
We then grabbed our popcorn and sodas and headed in to the gorgeous theatre. We had the BEST seats in the house... front row balcony! Scarlet LOVED sitting in the balcony. She kept saying, "I can see EVERYTHING!"
Then right before the movie started, they brought the stars of the show onto the stage! Chloe and Poppy! Scarlet was beyond excited to see these real life movie stars in real life!!!
So we saw the movie and it was adorable and Scarlet thought it was the best thing ever. Right before the movie started Scarlet gave me the biggest hug that last for a good minute and looked up at me and said with total sincerity, "I LOVE YOU, MOM". I love my girl and am so lucky to have her in my life...
Oh my goodness, where do I begin with this movie?!?!?!? I LOVED it. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. LOVED IT!!! I'm a huge sucker for a period piece anyway, but this was beyond my expectations.
First of all, how I even came to see it was fabulous. My darling friend, Julie, got tickets to see a showing of it at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. How fun is that? After the film was over there was a Q&A with the producer and the author of the book. It was SO fun. Oh, and to top it off we were given fantastic goodie bags at the end of the night with divine make-up and all other sorts of goodies in them. There was a $200 gift certificate for some botox or other cosmetic "adjustments" too! LOL It's going to take A LOT more than $200 to fix up this body! I may have to pass on that one...
Okay, so back to the movie... the story is beautiful and tragic and lovely and horrific and perfect. It is a true story of the Duchess of Devonshire and her gem of a husband, The Duke of Devonshire. Oh, he's a hateful man. Anyway, I don't want to give anything away, but SEE THIS MOVIE!
It's PG-13, but I think it DEFINITELY should have been an R, so don't take your teenage daughters in case you were contemplating it.
After the movie we went and had sushi and it was just a perfect night. I have the BEST friends ever!!!
Even though none of them EVER comment on my blog! :)
Since we saw the trailer for this movie, she has been OBSESSED!!!
One of my favorite things to do with Scarlet is taking her to see her cute movies at the El Capitan theatre in Hollywood. It's such a beautiful and regal theatre and they always have the cutest pre-show before the movie starts. This time they are having a live appearance by the 2 little doggie stars. Scarlet will die!!!
If you have not already seen this movie, RUN TO THE THEATRE TONIGHT AND SEE IT!!!
It's now on my top 10 of fav movies ever! It is SO funny and SO sweet and SO quirky. The girl is ADORABLE! In fact, EVERYONE is adorable in it. It is brilliant. You are crazy if you don't go and see it now!
Not an important or significant one, but a dream none the less.
The Golden Globes are January 13th. I vow every year to see all the nominated movies. I've come close, but have never done it. I'm sure this year will be the same, but again... I have a dream.
The nominated movies are:
BEST MOTION PICTURE DRAMA American Gangster(so good, but REALLY violent) Atonement Eastern Promises(lame and boring) The Great Debaters Michael Clayton No Country for Old Men There Will Be Blood(so boring that I fell asleep, so I'm not the best judge on this one. Dan really didn't like it at all though... and he actually remained awake)
BEST MOTION PICTURE MUSICAL OR COMEDY Across the Universe Charlie Wilson's War(Oh SO good!!!) Hairspray(so SUPER fun and enjoyable) Juno(now one of my favorite movies ever!) Sweeney Todd(loved it, but SO gruesome)
I've crossed out the movies I've seen. I think I'm in trouble! Three out of twelve isn't so great. This weekend I think I need to get busy watching movies!
So right at noon on Patrick's last day of school, Scarlet, Chandler and I went and picked him up to go and see Nancy Drew. Along the way we also picked up Danny & David (my boys BFs) and Kaylee (Scarlet's BF). That's right me and 6 kids headed off to the movies! lol
So if you know me, then you know that I am such a movie snob. I only like certain theatres and I only like to sit in certain spots, so that means that I'm always the first one there. It just makes me happy that way and less anxious. I'm fine to sit there and wait for 45 minutes... just as long as I'm in the middle sect, 3rd or 4th row from the back and if I'm with the kids, then on an aisle. Not much too ask for right?!
So here we are at Nancy Drew about 45 minutes early (I make sure the kids always bring their Game Boys to keep them occupied)...
This pic cracks me up because it looks like we're all lined up to see Resident Evil. lol!
After we'd been there for awhile we were joined by the Dalands, Daurios, Snyders, Calls, Taylors, Muirs, Chimpemberes and Hunters. We filled up half the theatre!
The movie was soooooooooooooooo great! All the kids LOVED it. I couldn't get over the fabulous costumes and sets. It just made me want to be a costume designer so badly. Dream job........
I loved that the movie was set in modern time, but anyone that came from Nancy's home town River Heights was dressed old fashioned. Darling.
After the movie I was so inspired that Scarlet and I had a Nancy Drew photo shoot. We had SO much fun and Scarlet totally got into it!
NERD ALERT... NERD ALERT:
I confess, I then purchased these items for myself-
