I didn't think these sounded all that amazing, but I've got to tell you--- TO DIE FOR! I super loved them!
Have I told you lately how OBSESSED my boy is with Cars? I don't think an hour goes by without hearing about how FAST or COOL Lightening McQueen is. LOVE that kid!!!
When I saw on my calendar that it was National Donut Day (first Friday every June), I knew duty called. I mean, I would be remiss if I didn't lead my family in this sacred holiday.
Our personal favorite donut stop? Why the famous Stan's Donuts. OMG- the chocolate peanut butter one!?!?! Put it on your bucket list.
My personal fav donut? The basic sugar donut. Patrick and I will fight to the death over the last one of those bad boys. Deep fried dough with granulated sugar sprinkled all over??? Why, you had me at deep fried...
Dan is a custard filled kinda donut guy.
Scarlet is a rainbow sprinkle lover.
Chandler and KK are chocolate donuts fanatics.
And Wednesday Jones... she's sticking with the milk.
What's your poison?

We had SUCH A FUN family night tonight!!!
Since tonight is the anniversary of Paul Revere's famous midnight run, I knew I wanted the lesson and activity to be based around that. I completely LOVE this era in American History and was so excited to teach the children about that famous night in a really fun way.
After reading the story, we picked the houses we wanted to ding dong ditch these packages to.
So I thought it would be fun to drop off English candy to our friends' homes to help celebrate the occasion.
I just added the candy to a cello bag and added a paper topper that read, "THE BRITISH ARE COMING..." and then I printed out the poem, Paul Revere's Ride, rolled it up in patriotic paper and tied it to the back of the bag topper.
Then it was time to hit the road!
Dan and the boys jumped on their skateboards and started ding dong ditching and leaving the treat bags at our friends' houses while Scarlet, KK and I waited in car.
They had SO much fun and were only caught once- and that was just lousy timing-- the Dad opened his front door to go to his car right when the boys stepped onto the porch! I think they scared him to death! lol
I started receiving some texts later on in the night thanking me for the fun treats. I asked Dan how they knew it was us and he said, "Um duh... do you think anyone else out there is celebrating the ride of Paul Revere?" I think the man may have a point!

So I wanted to make Keiran something fun for Earth Day and this is what I came up with! I'm kinda in love with how it turned out! It's not often I get to sew for my guys, so when I do, I'm especially excited about it!
The "YO" is especially fitting for KK since his FAVORITE food is yogurt and at least 5 times a day you'll hear him approach someone saying in his slowest, saddest voice-- YO... YO... YO...
Okay, so wanna try this yourself? Here is the tutorial:
So I headed back to Walmart for more of the $6 Dresses and while there, I saw this $5 hoodie for Keiran. I immediately knew that this was going to be the canvas for KK's Earth Day outfit! I mean, how can you beat the price?!?!?!
I went home and designed the logo for the back of the hoodie and here is what I came up with:
Excuse the crudeness of my pattern. I have never claimed to be a master pattern maker! But, hey... it works!!!! :)
1- Print out the Y & O pattern and then cut them out.
2- Iron Wonder Under onto the back of fabric. Trace pattern onto Wonder Under.
3- Cut out pieces.
4- Iron Stabilizer onto the inside back of the hoodie.
5&6- Using chalk, draw a circle on front side of hoodie. Layer 2 strands of embroidery floss together and sew around the circle. Then sew the peace sign inside. DON'T worry about straight or even lines!!!
7&8- Remove paper backing from cut out pattern pieces. Iron to the back of hoodie. Sew around the pieces using a straight stitch and then go over that stitch with a zig zag stitch. Make sure to make the stitches uneven and rough looking.
This was super fun to make and really easy since it was supposed to look rough and unfinished!

A side note about licorice-- I am a fan!
LOVE the stuff.
I happen to come from a mother who is slightly obsessed by the stuff. No, not Red Vines or any of the other "fake" licorice. The hardcore, black, tough as nails, bitter stuff. I believe the stuff she likes may not even be recreational... I think she's into the "black tar heroine" of licorices actually. Why do I think that? Oh, only because she's not able to buy it in just any store. She has to go to "specialty places". That's right- there are "specialty licorice dealers". Just when you thought you knew everything about licorice, huh?!
Now, while I LOVE black licorice, I'm not into the hardcore stuff.
I do LOVE the salty kind though! YUM!
I also LOVE Licorice Allsorts.
Oh, and Pontefract Cakes... delish!!!
I love black licorice pipes, and laces and wheels too!
HATE black jellybeans though. yuck! shudder shudder
Okay, now onto red licorice...
I HEART Red Vines. LOVE them!
Twizzlers... um, gross!
Oh, one more thing in closing-- a delicious tip! My mom's FAVORITE treat is to eat black licorice with a green apple. It sounds weird, but the combo of the two is divine! So, next time you are eating black licorice, grab a Granny Smith apple and prepare to snack on a most delicious combo of flavors. I swear! Try it!

So being that today is DAY OF THE PEANUT (a very famous holiday, indeed) I just HAD to make peanut butter cookies. Okay, so I didn't HAVE to make peanut butter cookies, but any excuse to eat a warm gooey cookie is perfect for me.
So here's to the peanut! We sure do love them, Mr. Carver...
We had such a fun Earth Day! You know me... I LOVE a reason to celebrate!!!
First of all, our school had all the kids wear different colored shirts according to their grade. Scarlet's grade wore yellow and Chandler's grade wore red. It was so beautiful seeing the kids in all their bright colors on campus!
We then hit out neighborhood DO IT CENTER and bought some cute flowers and a fab hanging basket. Oh how I love a hanging basket!
We then met Dan at home and prepared our orange tree planter and planted some flowers.
After planting our flowers we headed to Disney's EARTH
Okay, so the kids loved this movie, but I have to warn you... it is sad. Heartbreaking actually. It was hard for me, but I'm really glad we saw it. It's nature. For some reason I guess I just never thought about baby animals dying in the wild. Who would? It's a horrible thought. Anyway, just a little caution...
To finish off the day, I made some yummy cinnamon rolls for the next day's breakfast.
Note to my readers- Patrick actually participated in all of today's activities, but he was being a fool in every shot, so I didn't include him! Come to think of it, I should have...
So I got a bee in my bonnet and decided to have a Cinco de Mayo get together. We've never celebrated it before, but when there's a holiday, there must be a party... right?!
I got a pinata, organized some food, put together some races for the kids, called a bunch of my friends and VOILA... a party was made!
