It's Father's Day.
I can't begin to express how fortunate my 5 are to have these men in their lives. They have taken the roll of "father & grandfather" to new heights and I am forever thankful that they CHOOSE to do this everyday.
Dan: He's the Dad who never misses an awards ceremony at school. He's the dad that missed the last baseball game of the season to attend the Brownie Olympics. He's the dad that makes sure his boy gets his chocky donuts in the morning. He's the dad that manages to come up with club soccer money no matter how tight things are. He's the dad that has coached every one of his older kids and can't wait to coach the younger ones. He's the dad who always offers a soft place to land. He's the dad that stays up til 3 in the morning typing a paper with their son even though he waited until the last second and didn't deserve the help. He's the dad that can't stop kissing Wednesday Jones. He's the dad that sits and watches the game with his boys even though it would be so much more enjoyable alone without all the questions and noise. He's the dad that treats their mother how their mother wants them to treat their wives. He's the one we couldn't live without.
Pa: He's the man that picks up Scarlet from school on his only day off and has her run errands with him just to spend time with her. He's the one that keeps a notebook of all the funny/lovely/amazing things the kids have ever said. He's the one who has never met a stranger without showing them at least 10 pictures of the 5. He's the grandpa that has been at every game if he's not working. He's the one that slips the kids money without me knowing. He's the one that will call from Costco and ask if we need anything. He's the one that stops by a couple of times a week for just a few minutes to see the kids and hear about their day. He's the one that makes my oldest son laugh until he cries. He's the one that will leave with a crying baby during a performance, so I can see the whole thing. He's the one who calls me one day out of the blue to tell me how amazing our children are and how they are the greatest blessing in his life. He's the one that tells the jokes my children repeat over and over again. He's the one my children never forget in their prayers.
My children and I are blessed beyond words to have these fathers in our lives.
I could want nothing more than for my boys to be the father Dan is and the grandfather my dad is. That is my wish this Father's Day.
