I have given birth to 5 babies over the last 16 years and have come to the conclusion that nurses, above and beyond anyone else, can make or break this experience.
I have had INCREDIBLE nurses and I have had spawn of Satan nurses. I have had lazy ones and ones that have made me want to cry out of gratitude. I've had ones that have neglected to get me a doctor in time to have an epidural and I have had ones that have told the anesthesiologist that my husband needed to stay in the room with me during the epidural to keep me calm. I've had nurses that I couldn't wait until it was their shift change and with Wednesday, I had one that I hugged and teared up having to say goodbye to as I left the hospital.
Now knowing this, I go to the hospital prepared. With each baby (after Patrick) I have put together little gifts, ahead of time, to give to my favorite nurses. I have given See's Candy boxes, boxes of cards, cupcakes and other little trinkets to let my favorite nurses know how much I appreciate them. And I must say, they are always SOOOOOO excited and sweet about this tiny gesture. It literally makes me almost tear up thinking about all the lovely responses to these little gifties I've given out over the years.
This time, with Wednesday Jones, I gave out these sweet little gift bags shown above. Knowing that I was having a little girl, I went with a pink theme. I found these fragrance sprays at Bath and Body Works called SWEET PEA and they were even pink! How perfect is that!?!?!?! Then I added some pink Bliss chocolates and a cute ribbon and tag and a great little gift was made!
This was very inexpensive and easy to throw together and beyond worth the effort when I saw the look of appreciation on my sweet nurses' faces.
