I'm making a shirt for Scarlet. I LOVE it. Wanna know how to make it? Good.
Okay, so mine's not done yet, but I thought I'd post what I had so you can get started before Valentines Day. Here's what you need:
- Old Navy long sleeved white t-shirt ($5)
- 1/2 yard of pink or red silk or even fake-ish silk from Joanns ($3)
- needle and thread
- 1 1/2 ft. piece of silk ribbon in a contrasting color (if your silk is pink use red ribbon) ($2)
1. Cut a heart out of cardstock and with a pencil, trace the heart onto the shirt
*********************
2. TEAR (and I repeat TEAR) 1 1/2 inch wide strips of the silk
********************
3. Tie the strips into knots(I like to keep the knots loose-ish)
****************************
4. Sew the knots onto the t-shirt within the heart
**********************
5. Try and keep the knots sharp along the edges, so the heart will form perfectly.
***********************
6. After all the knots are attached, sew the bow onto the heart off centered.
I will hopefully finish the shirt tonight, so Scarlet will have it for February 1st... I'll post it then.
This probably wasn't the most effective way to post this project. Most people actually FINISH the thing before posting about it. Not me... that would make too much sense.
